San Mateo Union High School District celebrated the groundbreaking of gymnasium projects at San Mateo and Burlingame High Schools. Designed by QKA, we are thrilled to continue to build on our longstanding relationship with the district.

A new 21,800 sq. ft. San Mateo High School (SMHS) gymnasium will include a gym area, team and training rooms, classrooms and additional support spaces. The new gym will bring SMHS into greater parity with other district schools, meeting the needs of the student body as well as the larger community through a joint-use agreement with the City of San Mateo.

Burlingame High School Gym Groundbreaking

The new 37,500 sq. ft. Burlingame High School gymnasium will replace an outdated facility to better serve the needs of the school community. The complex will include two gyms – a main and second-story auxiliary gym space – locker rooms, physical education offices, a wrestling facility, lobby, storage and support spaces. Both projects are expected to complete January 2025.
