Tierra Linda Middle School

New Learning Commons Building

San Carlos, CA

Tierra Linda Middle School’s new Learning Commons is a multi-functional space for students, faculty and the community that serves as the hub of campus activity. Replacing an outdated multipurpose building, the Learning Commons operates not only as a physical education space but is designed to be used for many flexible purposes, including presentations, small group instruction, school and public gatherings, and large-scale STEAM activities. Adjacent to the school’s drop-off area, large roll-up doors open out to the campus quad.

The new building also allows for an expanded and visible administration space for the school, formerly hard to find among classroom wings. Features include a large daylit reception area, staff offices, conference room, workrooms, faculty breakroom and nurse’s office.
