FORT BRAGG MIDDLE SCHOOL - COTTON AUDITORIUM

Fort Bragg Unified School District

Located on the Fort Bragg Middle School campus, this project completely renovated the historic Cotton Auditorium in the lumber town of Fort Bragg. This facility is a major cultural asset for the northern California coastal community since it was dedicated in the 1930’s. Its 842 seat capacity makes it the largest theatrical venue between Santa Rosa and Eureka.

This landmark building has been in constant use by students and the entire north coast community since its construction in 1937. Although the building appeared sound and in good repair, significant dry rot was discovered when its entrance was damaged during an automobile crash. The damage was so extensive that the entire exterior and much of the interior finishes had to be stripped to expose the structure.

QKA worked diligently with OPSC to acquire Extreme Hardship funding. This potential community disaster provided the impetus for the development of a facilities master plan leading to the sale of local bonds to assist in modernizing this auditorium building as well as all other campuses.
