Recreational Services for the City of Brentwood manages a highly successful senior program for hundreds of community residents. This program’s success outgrew its facilities, requiring a new building on a vacant site adjacent the City’s Aquatic Center.
The 8,400 square foot building provides a large multi-use space suitable for dances, bingo, meetings and other gatherings. Provided with a commercial kitchen the multi-use space provides daily meals for Brentwood’s seniors. The buildings two classroom spaces are used for numerous functions including lectures, crafts and card games, with an additional space dedicated to billiards. Outdoor courtyards are collocated with the lobby and multi-use room to accommodate indoor-outdoor gatherings.
Designed with a pre-engineered structural and exterior finish system, the facility was economically completed in record time, allowing for design to continue while the structure was fabricated. Imagery from the neighboring aquatic center greatly influenced the new building and was met with overwhelming support from the community.
