NAPA MEMORIAL STADIUM

Napa Valley Unified School District

Features:
new synthetic field, metal bleacher seating for 7,000 spectators, as well as buildings containing concessions, ticketing, restrooms and team rooms.

Napa Memorial Stadium was a beloved local landmark and in need of significant repair. Home to both the Napa High School Indians and the Vintage High School Crushers, the stadium had been an important part of the Napa community for more than 50 years. In fact it was rated by ESPN Rise as one of the top high school sports venues in the United States. Unfortunately, the Stadium’s aging concrete bleachers were structurally decaying and in need of constant repair, and the team rooms, restrooms and concessions were woefully inadequate.

QKA and Beals Alliance were tasked with the important job of creating a replacement facility that provided modern amenities while keeping the same intimate feel and special atmosphere. The new facility includes all new seating for almost 7,000 spectators as well as state of the art team rooms, concessions, ticketing and restroom facilities. The new entry plaza creates a dramatic gateway to the facility. We designed a sunken, synthetic turf soccer and football field to preserve the intimacy of the old stadium while increasing playability and decreasing maintenance. The Stadium also included installation of elevators, two press boxes, parking lots, landscaping and a rain water harvesting system. To the delight of the community we were able to have the facility open for the first game of the 2010 football season.
